Foreign Educator Preparation

Per IDAPA 08.02.02.013, An educator having graduated from a foreign institution educator preparation program shall be treated as an out of state applicant for certification purposes and may be issued a nonrenewable, three (3) year interim certificate. The applicant must provide transcripts and/or credentials that have been translated and evaluated by an approved evaluation service.

Applicants from a foreign country applying for an Idaho certificate must provide a written evaluation from an AICE or NACES approved organization that is qualified to evaluate foreign credentials and transcripts. This written evaluation must verify an academic equivalency to American-based education, including a course-by-course transcript summary.

Applications for seeking educator certification in Idaho are submitted to the Certification Department at the Idaho Department of Education.
