Coronavirus / COVID-19 Resources

The Idaho Back to School Framework adopted by the State Board of Education sets out the expectation that school districts and charter schools will continue to provide meaningful instruction and educational services to all students in the fall and that this instruction may be done through multiple forms as the local circumstances dictate.

The Framework identifies three categories of community transmission and provides guidance to schools for keeping students and staff safe depending on the applicable category of community transmission in which their school building is located. The Framework contemplates school districts and charter schools working with their local public health districts to develop prevention and mitigation plans to prevent the spread of COVID-19. School districts and charter schools located within counties or cities with health orders in place are subject to those orders, including orders requiring mandatory face covering and physical distancing.

K-12 Emergency Council Committees

Two committees have been formed on Governor Brad Little’s K-12 Emergency Council. The committees are focusing on two areas; a framework for Idaho’s public schools to reopen in the fall, and the “digital divide” students and teachers struggled with during the soft-closure of schools this past spring semester in response to the pandemic.
