(Moscow). Calling them emissaries of compassion, dedication and hope, The Idaho State Board of Education unanimously voted to recognize and commend Idaho's vocational rehabilitation counselors.

"These are people who working so very hard and with little to no acknowledgement of their efforts and dedication," said Board Secretary Don Soltman of Twin Lakes. "Their work is imperative to the future success of those they serve."

Tuesday, March 22, 2011 was declared by the United States Senate as National Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Appreciation Day. The declaration is intended to commend the hard work and dedication that rehab counselors provide to individuals in need.

In Idaho, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is an agency of the Idaho State Board of Education due to the nature of their mission in helping to educate and assist individuals with disabilities to find employment, live more independently through education, training and other individualized services.
